Travel Guide: Ura.219
In this latest edition of Gateway: Travel Guide, we invite you to discover a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Taipei: Ura.219.
Opened in 2022 on 219 Dihua Street, Ura.219 is an experience born from the collaboration between the fashion designer brand Professor. E and Urayama (Lǐshān 裏山), an antique planting brand based in Yangmingshan. It’s a cozy and inviting space crafted from the traditional street houses of Dadaocheng, which blends fashion, antiques, greenery, and coffee seamlessly.
As you walk into the store, you will be greeted by racks of designer clothing from Professor. E and a curated collection of antiques and ceramics by Objectby1218. But beyond the storefront lies a hidden oasis that steals the show. The courtyard, which was once a traditional patio, is now a Japanese-inspired garden decorated with plants from Urayama and 0343 Conservatory.
The serene courtyard is designed in harmony with nature by Yilan Fanghua (一攬芳華) GardenLab and Urayama’s landscaping team in collaboration with 0343 Conservatory to reflect the changing season. The mix of rugged root plants from 034 Conservatory and the delicate potted greens from Urayama adds a textured charm to the space.
Continuing to walk deeper into Ura.219, there is a cozy coffee space and tea room. Pushing open the wooden door inspired by the Edo period, the bar counter, Nordic decor, warm ambient lighting, and a tall glass window framing the courtyard create an inviting space for you to unwind. Here, you can taste drinks carefully prepared by baristas and sit in the space to enjoy the drinks.
Ura.219 embodies a philosophy of culture, artistic expression, artisanal craftsmanship, and lifestyle. It is a must-visit for those seeking a retreat from the city hustle. So, when you are in Taipei, carve out time and stop by this place for a dose of chic relaxation and a delicious cup of coffee.
