About the bean

This natural processed coffee originates from the Kindeng Dry Mill situated in the Jiwaka province of Papua New Guinea. It is a blend of cherries sourced from approximately 1,500 smallholder farmers in the Kindeng and Arufa municipalities. These farmers typically cultivate coffee on plots averaging between 1 to 2 hectares, with soils characterized as sandy loam and loamy clay.

Upon arrival at the mill, the cherries undergo processing and are dried on raised beds and canvasses. Throughout the month-long drying period, the cherries are meticulously moved multiple times daily to ensure consistent moisture levels across the batch. Once dried to perfection, the coffee is carefully stored in cool, dry warehouses, then hulled, milled, and prepared for export.

What makes this coffee particularly intriguing is its vibrant flavor profile, which includes notes of pomegranate, sugar cane, and grape which typically associated with specialty processed beans. The intensity, mouthfeel, and sweetness of this coffee make it exceptionally enjoyable both as a pour over and espresso.
