Please note: Pre-ground coffee beans can quickly lose their freshness, resulting in a notable decrease in aroma and flavor. For this reason, we do not offer a grinding service. We strongly encourage our customers to grind their coffee beans just before use for the best experience.

About the bean

This coffee has been a hallmark of our espresso offerings since our inception, consistently earning favor among our customers. The light roast, natural processed beans exude flavors reminiscent of lemon and brown sugar, accompanied by pronounced notes of floral and milk chocolate in the finish. It is particularly well-suited for straight espresso as well as milk-based drinks like cortado, cappuccino, and latte.

Situated 510 kilometers south of Addis Ababa, the Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm spans 500 hectares, with 300 dedicated to coffee cultivation. Owned and managed by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012, the farm straddles the villages of Taro and Sewana in Ethiopia's Oromia region, within the Guji zone of the Shakiso district.

Ismael oversees a workforce comprising 25 permanent full-time employees and up to 300 seasonal workers. The farm's management provides essential amenities such as free transportation and contributes financially to the construction of schools and administrative buildings for the community. Facing competition from a nearby mining village for seasonal labor, Ismael and his family offer competitive wages to ensure a consistent workforce year after year.

The farm features an on-site nursery and employs shade cultivation using acacia and other indigenous trees to protect the coffee plants and create natural compost for fertilization. Ismael meticulously oversees every aspect of the farm, from its infrastructure to the harvesting and processing methods. Kayon Mountain produces both Natural and Washed coffee lots.
